The American Anti-Slavery Society made their own Constitution so that people can understand what the Society wanted to accomplish. The Constitution of the AASS made turns out to be similar to the 13th Amendment, which slavery was abolished. There was a little difference between the two and it was that colored people could get religous rights, and jobs with pay. The Constitution wanted no States to have slavery, it said "having slaves in a state is a crime...". The AASS wanted people, who thought that having slavery was good, to be punished. Part of Art II in the Constitution says, "While it admits that each State in which slavery exists, has, by the Constitution of the United States, the exclusive right to legislate in regard to its abolition in said State it shall aim to convince all our fellow-citizens, by arguments addressed to their understandings and consciences that slaveholding is a heinous crime in the sight of God, and that the duty, safety, and best interests of all concerned, require its immediate abandonment, without expatriation. " This part of the Constitution is saying that no state should have slavery, people that own slaves are not listening to God. Also
that if you have slaves you are creating a crime and God will punish you.
