Out of all the antislavery societies in the northeast, the PFASS was one of the most successful. The PFASS was not the first female anti-slavery society ever, but it was able to gain popularity from the reputations that the leaders of the society held. Also the PFASS was very different from many other antislavery societies because they aloud black females to join. The presence of African American women was very important because it helped solidify their stance on equal rights. Allowing Black females to participate in a society was not common during this time, The PFASS were one of the first to do this.
